Mavis by Herrera was founded in 2020 with a simple belief: beautiful design should never come at the expense of people or the planet.
We create timeless resort handbags with intention from the materials we choose to the hands that bring each design to life. While much of fashion moves quickly and produces in excess, we choose a slower, more thoughtful path grounded in craftsmanship, responsibility and lasting style.
Our bags are handwoven by skilled artisans in Mexico using recycled and upcycled materials. Every collection is made in small batches and limited quantities, not mass-produced by machines. This thoughtful approach helps reduce waste while allowing every piece to receive the time, skill and attention it deserves.
For us, sustainability is more than a material or a marketing message. It means creating responsibly, respecting artisan craftsmanship and designing bags that can be carried and loved for years.

Thoughtfully Made, From Material to Final Stitch
Our process begins with recycled plastic and upcycled materials chosen for their durability, function and potential to become something beautiful again.
Each bag is woven by hand by skilled artisans in Mexico. No machines are used to create the woven body, allowing every piece to reflect the care, time and skill of the person who made it.
We produce in small batches and limited quantities, not according to the demands of mass production. This approach helps us reduce excess inventory, use materials more thoughtfully and create bags intended to be carried for years.

Every Mavis by Herrera bag begins in the hands of skilled artisans who bring our designs to life.
Many of our bags are handwoven by women artisans in Mexico who work independently from their homes. Through this work, they can earn income while continuing to support their families and communities.
We value their time, experience and craftsmanship. Every bag is a reflection of their skill and a reminder that the people behind a product matter just as much as the product itself.
Giving Back is Part of Our Story
Our purpose extends beyond the bags we create. A portion of our proceeds helps support children in need through education, shoes and essential resources.
Giving back has been part of Mavis Carolina Herrera’s life since childhood, when she joined her father in helping children in the agricultural communities of San Quintín, Baja California. Those early experiences became part of the foundation of Mavis by Herrera.
We believe even a small independent business can create meaningful change, one thoughtful action at a time.

Mavis by Herrera began with a leap of faith. Founder Mavis Carolina Herrera left her corporate career and sold her car to invest in an idea she deeply believed in: creating beautiful bags that could make a positive difference for people and the planet.
Today, the brand remains independent and self-funded. Every decision is personal from designing each collection to caring for our customers and building lasting relationships with the artisans behind our bags.
