The Founder

Mavis by Herrera was born from a life lived with less and with intention.

I grew up in a small town in San Quintín, Baja California, where community mattered more than possessions. Some of my earliest memories are from when I was five years old, helping children in need alongside my father in the paper camps. Those moments quietly shaped who I would become. They taught me that giving isn’t about how much you have, but how much is in your heart to bring.

As I grew older, I learned to live simply. I traveled the world alone with nothing but a backpack, discovering that the less I carried, the more present I became. Those journeys showed me beauty, resilience, and also the reality of how much waste we leave behind. They changed the way I see consumption and responsibility.

Moving to the United States was not easy. English is my second language, and finding my place in a new culture required patience, courage, and humility. There were moments of doubt, but I held onto what I had learned early in life: lead with integrity and let purpose guide your choices.

Starting Mavis by Herrera was a leap of faith. I sold my car to invest in the brand, believing in an idea of purpose before anyone else did. For the first three months, there were no sales at all. Just work, hope, and trust in the process. Every step was intentional. Every decision was made with care.

This brand is my answer to a world of mass production and excess. We choose to create slowly and in small quantities, honoring the Artisans who make our pieces and the planet they come from. Luxury, to me, is not about volume or speed, it is about meaning, craftsmanship, and humanity.

Sustainability is not a marketing word here. It is a responsibility. From recycled and responsibly sourced materials to supporting skilled artisans, many of whom are women working from their homes, we are committed to creating opportunity, dignity, and financial independence through thoughtful work.

Mavis by Herrera is a reflection of my journey of choosing less, trusting the process, and leading with purpose. It is an invitation to live and carry luxury consciously, with intention and heart.
